Kiss me! I'm wearing Vintage Make Up (Air spun & Besame)
Pinterest and YouTube have helped me discover a lot of interests over the years, and one of the biggest interest that I've developed has been Vintage. Vintage recipes, vintage hair, vintage makeup, vintage clothing, and vintage so on. Basically, anything 80s and earlier Pinterest and YouTube have helped me admire on an aesthetic and historically interested level.
It has been such an influence, along with my personal tastes to begin with, that I semi follow a vintage makeup routine. I say 'semi' because it is mostly inspired by the look of the 1940's, but it also is just how I prefer my makeup to look. Simply put, I like a very minimal makeup look with the occasional red lip.
So this week I decided to film my morning skincare and what my makeup routine looks like when I wear some. But because of technical issues filming and issues editing, I am not very happy with the video. So I will likely redo the video at a later date. But for now here is what my routine looks like:
Morning Skincare:
Cleansing with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Vitamin C serum
Under eye Cream with caffeine
CeraVe Daily Moisturizer
EOS lip balm
Neutrogena Clear Skin Sunscreen SPF 55
My Skincare is very straight forward. On lazy days, I just cleanse, moisturize and sunscreen. But most days I do everything. I mostly stick to CeraVe products because they do not irritate my skin at all, but I am also trying to use up what I already have opened. The sunscreen, for example, is not my favorite but I am trying to use it up before trying something else. But you're here for my vintage inspired make up!
Makeup:
E.L.F. Poreless Putty Primer
Coty AirSpun Powder in Naturally Neutral
Bellapierre Shimmer Powder in SP087 Redish
L'OReal True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator in N202 Rose
Two Faced Better than Sex Mascara
Besame Lipstick in Victory Red
There you have it! All the makeup I usually wear to get the simple but vintage inspired look. This is also the order I like to apply everything in too. It gives me a touch of coverage and evens my skin tone out without fully hiding me. Then I like a bit of highlighter and blush to bring back just a touch of color. A little mascara to help showcase my eyes a bit, then red lips for fun! I think red really is fun to do on occasion and to me it really gives it that vintage flair I'm drawn to. Not to mention that Coty AirSpun and the Color Victory Red are Vintage themselves!
Coty AirSpun Powder has been around for a very long time, sense before World War One! The powder came out in the 1930's and the packaging today still has a similar design to the original. The powder was popular due to being super fine allowing for a very light weight but full coverage look. Here is the story I read about Coty Powder's History.
Besame Cosmetics, on the other hand, is a relatively newer brand that specializes in reproduction cosmetics. They reproduce vintage shades of lipstick, nail polish, cold creams, and make cake mascara. The Victory Red shade, that I own both the Lipstick and the Nail Polish of, are reproduction's of a 1941 shade by the same name. I think that's also why my make up tends to lean more 1940's. I also have their cake mascara, but I am still learning how to use it and I still need to finish up my current mascara.
But there you Go! My Morning Skincare and my Makeup! I feel a lot better about this blog post than my video. But maybe next month I will redo my video and include my night time skincare in it also!
